Militia Games

Militia Games are competitive, Alliance-wide events that determine which faction controls temporary buffs and special bonuses for the week. They are powered by the Silver Coffer and exist alongside the Alliance Gold Coffer’s Weekly Buff system.

Overview

  • Militia Games occur on a weekly cycle tied to the Weekly Reset.
  • Alliances compete to earn Temporary Buffs by contributing gold, completing objectives, or achieving performance goals.
  • Funding for rewards comes from each Alliance’s Silver Coffer.
  • These buffs supplement—but never replace—the permanent Weekly Buffs granted by the Gold Coffer.

Purpose

The Militia Games system ensures that player activity and competition directly influence Alliance strength week to week. It creates dynamic variation by granting high-impact, short-duration buffs based on community participation and success.

How It Works

Each week during the Weekly Reset:

  1. **10% of every Alliance’s Gold Coffer** is automatically skimmed and added to their Silver Coffer.
  2. Militia Games begin using this new Silver Coffer balance as their reward pool.
  3. Players earn Alliance Points, XP, and Temporary Buffs by participating in Militia Game events.
  4. Buffs expire automatically after a set duration (usually 6–48 hours).
  5. Unused Silver Coffer balance carries over to the following week.

Temporary Buffs

Temporary Buffs are designed to complement the steady Weekly Buffs. They apply to all members of the Alliance and typically last for a few hours to a day.

Buff Type Example Effect Duration Source
Combat Buff +5% Damage & Defense 24 hours Battle Militia Games
Resource Buff +10% Resource Drop Rate 12 hours Gathering Militia Games
Crafting Buff +15% Crafting Success Rate 6 hours Production Militia Games
Town Defense Buff +25% Guard Damage / HP 3 hours Defense Militia Games
Dungeon Buff +10% Rare Loot Chance 8 hours PvE Militia Games
  • Buffs scale with Alliance contribution and Silver Coffer balance.
  • Temporary Buffs are balanced so that no single Alliance can permanently dominate.

Game Types

Militia Games rotate weekly, providing different styles of gameplay and rewards. The following examples represent the planned categories (subject to expansion):

⚔️ Battle Games

Defeat enemy NPCs or players in designated battle zones to earn Alliance points.

🧱 Defense Games

Protect key Township assets (e.g., gates, merchants, crafting stations) from waves of invaders.

⚒️ Crafting Games

Contribute crafted goods or gathered materials to increase the Alliance’s Silver Coffer rewards.

💰 Economic Games

Sell goods or make vendor purchases in Alliance towns to drive coffer income.

🏴 Exploration Games

Discover hidden points of interest or complete exploration tasks to earn contribution points.

Buff Calculation

  • All Silver Coffer gold is converted into a reward pool for that week’s Militia Games.
  • Buff potency scales with participation and success metrics.
  • The more active your Alliance is, the stronger and longer your Temporary Buffs last.

Formula Example (Conceptual)

Base Buff = (Silver Coffer Gold / 100,000) × Participation Multiplier

  • The Participation Multiplier rewards player engagement, capped to prevent extreme imbalance.
  • Alliances with strong participation but low coffers can still earn meaningful buffs.

Strategy

  • Active Alliances can dominate temporary buffs by coordinating event participation.
  • Even smaller Alliances can remain competitive through efficient economic and crafting games.
  • Balancing spending between the Gold and Silver Coffers creates long-term strategy:
    • High taxes strengthen next week’s buffs.
    • High participation strengthens this week’s Militia Games.

Developer Notes

  • Militia Games are the primary feature funded by the Silver Coffer.
  • Buff and event structures will expand throughout Beta 2.
  • Seasonal leaderboards and Alliance-based titles are planned for future updates.
  • Buff interactions will be balanced to avoid stacking exploits with permanent buffs.

Overview

  • Temporary Buffs: Militia Games govern rotating, short-duration buffs earned by alliance participation and event results. These are **separate** from Weekly Buffs (Crafting Zone Skill Gain, Merchant Stock, and Weekly Dungeon Buffs).
  • Weekly Funding: At each Weekly Reset, **10% of every Alliance’s Alliance Gold Coffer is skimmed into the Silver Coffer**. This occurs **before** any Gold-Coffer-based weekly buff calculations.
  • Participation and contest scoring determine how much of the Silver Coffer converts into Temporary Buff power for the week.
