Governors
Alliance Governors
Governors are elected leaders of each Alliance who help shape weekly policies, vote on behalf of their citizens, and influence the seasonal direction of their Alliance. Elections occur every 12-week season.
Election Timeline
Each Alliance follows the same seasonal schedule:
| Week Range | Phase | Description |
|---|---|---|
| 1–8 | Nomination Period | Players may nominate themselves to run for Governor. Must meet the minimum Alliance Level for that season. |
| 9–12 | Voting Period | Citizens vote for their preferred candidate. Votes can be changed at any time before the season reset. |
| 12 | Results & Transition | Winner is announced; new Governor takes office at the seasonal reset. |
Candidate Requirements
- Must meet the minimum Alliance Level for the current season:
- Season 1 → Level 2
- Season 2 → Level 5
- Season 3+ → Level 10
- Only one character per Discord account may be nominated.
- May not serve more than **two consecutive terms**.
- Must wait one full season before running again after two terms.
- Removed Governors are banned from candidacy for two full seasons.
- Inactive players (3+ weeks inactivity) are automatically disqualified.
- Nominations close at the end of **Week 8**.
Voting Process
- All citizens of the Alliance can vote during Weeks 9–12.
- Each player receives **one vote** per season.
- Votes may be changed freely before the season reset.
- In the event of a tie:
- Player candidates are prioritized over NPC candidates.
- Between tied players, the oldest character (by creation date) wins.
Governor Powers
Governors can influence weekly decisions in two distinct ways:
- Democratic Mode
- The Governor votes alongside citizens. Their vote counts as one among the total.
- Executive Authority
- The Governor may override all citizen votes and directly set policies.
- When this occurs, all citizens receive a **Governor Log Notification** summarizing their choices.
Rewards
Governors receive leadership bonuses each week they participate in voting:
- 1,000 Alliance Credits
- 2,000 XP
- (Values subject to change.)*
Emergency Elections
Emergency elections are automatically triggered when:
- The Governor’s **approval rating** falls below 20% for two consecutive weeks, or
- The Governor is inactive for 3+ weeks.
Notes:
- Cannot occur during the regular election period (Weeks 9–12).
- Only the **top 3 candidates** from the previous election are eligible.
- Remaining slots are filled with NPC Governors to total 3 candidates.
- Voting lasts **1 week**.
- Tie-breaking rules remain the same.
NPC Governors
If fewer than 5 player candidates are nominated, NPC Governors fill the ballot. NPC Governors:
- Have unique Roman-themed names (e.g., Marcus Aurelius, Julia Britannicus, Gaius Draco).
- Follow citizen votes about **70% of the time**.
- May use Executive Authority **30% of the time** if it benefits the Alliance.
- Consider gold coffers, approval ratings, and recent policies when making decisions.
- Can be removed or replaced through Emergency Elections.
NPCs follow the same term limits as player Governors and can never serve more than two consecutive terms.
Purpose
NPC Governors ensure continuous leadership and prevent stagnation in low-activity periods, while giving players a fair chance to compete for power and guide their Alliance’s future.
